Private Rental Complaints

Following on from our successful Client Money Protection project, that operated across London for three years, the focus of our member authorities has now shifted to assisting with Private Rental Complaints.

LTS is working with the London Mayor’s Office to enable complaints to be directed appropriately via the “Report a Rogue Landlord/Agent” tool

The project is aimed at targeting rogue landlords and agents, whilst also encouraging better working relationships between Private Sector Housing, Environmental Health and Trading Standards teams in local authorities.

We enforce a range of legislation to ensure fairness and transparency in the lettings market.

There has been a number of prosecutions and actions reported in the media which demonstrate our leading role in this sector.  You can read about these outcomes here at the bottom of the page.

Our first year delivering the project has seen two thirds of London authorities sign up to the project with the remaining 11 members due to join from the start of July.

As part of the project’s second year of operation, we have produced a students guide to better empower those who may be renting for the first time in their lives. The guide clarifies what their legal rights are and where they can get help if they need it.

You can view your copy of the booklet here.
